Stay Warm, Get Neck-ed | Styling Neckerchiefs

Monday, January 30, 2017
I don't know about you but I've been getting a bunch of inspiration from certain fashion bloggers recently! From their outfits to their blog layouts, one of the people who've inspired me the most is Levi Nguyen. Her Instagram feed is absolutely incredible but her blog layout is out of this world. So for this post, I got inspiration from it but tried to make it my own at the same time.
I'm so excited to share this post because it was 100% a last minute idea that I came up with and I'm thrilled with the results! Styling posts are my favourite and I'm sure if you're a reader, you'd notice that. (I think I say that for literally all my styling posts) For this post, I decided to style neckerchiefs. This particular one is from Jim Thompson (a Thai silk company) that I borrowed from my mom! (I promise her I'd credit her)

Look 1 is the typical way you'd expect to style it, around your neck (duh!). Even though my top is forest green, I'm loving the contrast between the green and blue in the scarf. The hints of green in the scarf make it look more put together in my opinion.

Look 2 is tying it around your handbag. I love the look of it against plain coloured bags because it adds a statement to it. I, for one don't own any statement bags so adding a printed scarf to it transforms the overall look without breaking the bank.

Finally, the last look is all thanks to my mom: styling it as a bracelet. I'm obsessed with bow detailing. Whether it's on pants, sweaters, bags, bow detailing is the cutest!! I wear all my hand accessories on my left hand because it's not my dominant one and I won't get annoyed as easily!

9-5 Style: Winter Edition

Monday, January 23, 2017
I'm finally adding another post to my 9-5 Style series! I actually love dressing up for work at an office because it gives me an opportunity to play around with so many different pieces I wouldn't normally wear together on a day-to-day basis. Maybe it's because I don't work those 8 hours, all day, everyday like other people (it's only been in the summer!) but I find it so much fun. Depending on where I'm going or what I'm doing, my style varies so outfits I would wear to work combine a lot of pieces you've probably seen but styled much differently. I decided to put together 5 looks so you would have enough inspo to last the whole week!

FYI: The iron in my house broke the time I took these which is why there are wrinkly pieces!!

MONDAY
For Monday's outfit, it's the typical, dress shirt and dress pants type of outfit. The thing that is different about it is that I wore a cropped shirt on top so the bottom of dress shirt still shows. I felt great wearing this outfit and it was a total confidence booster when I wore it to an interview. I loved it so much that I rewore it when I got my photo taken for my work identification in the summer.

TUESDAY
For this outfit, I opted for patterned pants instead of regular black ones. As much as I love the pair I own, it gets tiring wearing the same kind of dress pants. I love patterned ones, especially the one I'm wearing below because it's perfect for work!

WEDNESDAY
MIDDLE OF THE WEEK! Ever since my 7th grade teacher told us what the meaning of Hump Day was, I always looked forward to the middle of the week because the rest of the week was much more relaxed. For this outfit, I changed up the type of dress pants and wore a pair of wide leg pants with a self-tie belt from SheIn. I love the self-tie because it creates the cutest bow. Bow details are seriously the cutest! It can get boring to wear the same ol' black fitted dress pants so try getting a different cut if you're into plain ones!

THURSDAY
This Zara knit sweater is seriously my go-to. You can't tell if you follow my blog but if you see me on a regular basis, you'd know I wear this sweater pretty much weekly. It's perfect to lounge around or dress up for work. I wore it with the same wide leg pants like in the previous outfit as well :)

FRIDAY
Casual Friday. Okay, I never went THAT casual on Fridays when I used to work in an office, it was a rare sight to see me in jeans, but I would like to think I dressed a bit comfier (if I didn't have plans that night). So for this outfit, I wore a ribbed knit with flared detailing on the bottom from H&M with jeans. I accessorized it with a necklace from Cherry Pick. I usually wear necklaces instead of bracelets at work because I've only worked in an office so I'm on the computer a lot and bracelets get distracting when I'm typing.

How Accessories Can Transform Your Look

Monday, January 16, 2017
By the title of the post, you already know this is more of a style guide post. Not everyone is fortunate to have multiple coats to rock this winter season and even though I have many coats, I tend to stick to the same few for most of the winter season because I'll take warmth over stylish any day. I try my BEST to stay stylish during winter but like last year's "Go-To Winter Outfits" posts, repetition of outfits/outfit formulas for me is KEY to surviving winter.

Depending on the day/type of event I'm attending, I stick to two different coats: 1) Moose Knuckle or 2) Long Black Laura Wool Coat. It's pretty obvious that my Laura coat is for more formal occasions or above 0 degrees weather and my Moose Knuckle for colder days.

Since it hasn't been too cold in Toronto, I've been able to wear my Laura Wool Coat much more so this post will have the exact same outfit but different accessories to show that changing up your accessories can give you a whole new look.

For this first look, it's practically spot-on from one of the outfits in my "Go-To Winter Outfits" post from last year. I love wearing a cape (Express) because it's much thicker and warmer than a normal scarf. The hat (Forever 21) is a great addition when it's not too windy and don't need your ears to be warm!

Throughout all the outfits, I wear my Timberlands because they're the warmest boots I own and they go with any outfit. This one I felt was my most "dressy" one but the boots make it a bit more casual and more of an everyday look.

The second outfit is probably the one I wear the most in the winter because I've been obsessed with my Hudson's Bay Toque ever since I bought it! It covers my ears and is such a classic piece (especially for Canadians) so it's perfect to wear. I wore a MUJI Arm Stole that they were kind enough to gift me back at their A/W Preview.

My favourite thing about the arm stole is that it can be worn multiple ways. You can either wear it like a poncho/cape like my first look or wear it like a normal scarf (without it being too bulky)!

As for the last look, I'm wearing a faux fur headband I got from Hudson's Bay. I've always wanted a faux fur headband so I'm so glad I finally got this one! It adds such an elegant look for the winter. I paired it with a blanket scarf from ASOS that I received last year.

Sweater - Lord & Taylor
Jeans - Hollister
Coat - Laura (old)
Shoes - Timberlands

Hope you enjoyed today's post and saw how you can achieve different looks by changing up your accessories! Accessories can seriously give you an endless amount of outfits and really transform your overall look :) Leave a comment down below what your go-to accessories are for the winter!
