Trend Alert: How to Wear Red

Monday, September 18, 2017
With the remaining few days of summer, I've just been itching to pull out all my sweaters and jackets. I've mentioned it before how I'm over summer fashion and considering it's felt like summer the past few days in Toronto (and will continue to do so for a bit), I'm not impressed one bit. So today's outfits are ones that can easily be changed into fall ones by adding tights or changing the shoes.

One of the most obvious trends for this upcoming fall season is the colours red; not just any shade of red but the bold lip red, cherry red. It's a very classic look when it comes to makeup so it's no wonder that it would eventually become a fashion trend. Red is considered a bold colour and signifies so many things: power, love, passion, danger, etc. When it comes to fashion, red (specifically cherry red), is immediately associated with the word sexy. It's funny how a colour can instantly draw attention to you or even boost your confidence. I don't wear red often but when I do, I definitely notice more stares because of how attention grabbing the colour is.

Today's post shows a couple of different ways you can rock the trend. Whether it's in a subtle way or going for a monochromatic look, here is how I've worn red recently. Instead of going out buying new clothes, I decided to sift through my closet to see how I can incorporate the trend.

OUTFIT 1: HINTS OF RED

This is hands down my favourite look I'm going to show you today. I bought this lipstick print top on my trip to St. Lucia. It's absolutely adorable and has a hint of red with the red lipstick print all over it. The bow in the front adds a classy touch to a classic lipstick colour. I layered it with one of my favourite corduroy items which is this playsuit from ASOS. It's the perfect piece to layer with. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'd notice it was one of my Winter to Spring transition looks!

OUTFIT 2: STRIKING

As much as I love colourblocking, the easiest way to make a statement is to match whatever your statement piece is with neutrals. It'll always make your outfit pop. I've actually noticed people wear red and pink together which makes for the perfect Valentine's Day look! Anyways, to add more dimension to the plain ribbed knit sweater, I wore a skirt from SheIn that you've seen countless amount of times on my blog!

  1. Absolutely in love with that red sweater! And I love how it pairs with the gray. Totally different than the normal black skirt.

    1. Yes! Black is so harsh to me but I would 100% wear red with a patent leather black skirt - it'd be so fun and edgy
