Subtle Ombré | Bite Beauty x Influenster

Thursday, March 2, 2017

I've been slowly venturing out to the beauty side of the blogging world and today's post is brought to you by Bite Beauty and Influenster! I was chosen to receive a complimentary VoxBox with BITE Beauty's new lip pencils! Although, I'm not a fan of the shades for my skin tone, I thought, instead of just a review (which I will get to), I would show how I would wear one of the colours.

THE LIP PENCIL + LIPSTICK

We all received the same two colours: Whiskey and Honeycomb. I would describe Whiskey's shade as dark chocolate versus Honeycomb which is more of a brown-tone nude. When researching for the 'perfect' nude, it's recommended to get one shade from your natural lip colour. It comes off lighter than my natural lips which is why for me, it's a no for shade! Like their other lipsticks, it has a matte finish. I don't wear matte lipsticks anymore but compared to other ones I've tried, this one isn't drying to me! As for Whiskey, I personally feel like it is too dark for me! I never wear anything darker than Rimmel's #107 (Kate Moss collection).

SUBTLE OMBRÉ LOOK

Since I didn't like the shades on me, why spend the day wearing it? I decided to try out a subtle ombré lip look instead of wearing the lipstick on it's own. I've always been intrigued with the ombré lip look but never decided to try it out myself. I went for a more subtle look instead of a dramatic one because, let's face it, I'm someone who likes wearable/everyday makeup versus full face. I ended up using NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in 'Cruella' as the 'base' and then the BITE Lip Pencil in 040 for the darker ombré effect.

Hope you enjoyed today's post! Let me know in the comments if you'd ever try out ombré lips :)
