Spring Lookbook 2017

Monday, March 27, 2017
Now that it's forecasted to be actual spring weather, what better way to start off the week than a lookbook? As I was planning these outfits, I've noticed my style completely shifts along with the colour palette I've been wearing for the fall and winter. I always knew the colours I wore changed along with the seasons but I never really noticed how I dress completely different until I looked at myself in the mirror. These looks are a bit more on the feminine and girly side but I hope you enjoy them!
Outfit 1

Last summer, this was one of my favourite outfits to wear at work. Since I worked at an office, it was so much fun being able to experiment with my wardrobe. I totally used it as an opportunity to test out future outfits that I'd feature on my blog. The main reason I love this outfit is because of the layering. It's to no surprise I love layering, even in the warmer months. I wore an embellished collar to add interest to the outfit since the dress shirt and peach dress were plain.

Dress - ShopHopes (old)
Collar - ASOS (similar)
Shoes - Union Jack Boots

Outfit 2

Of course I had to bring my THE white lace top from Zara. If you were following me last summer, you'd know this was my go-to piece. I styled it at least 10 different ways and I was not ashamed of that. The details on this blouse are gorgeous so this time, I paired it with an H&M Mesh Skirt. It's actually the same one Taylor Swift wore in NYC. I remember being obsessed with her NYC street style. It was one of my faves. Since it was a bit chilly, I threw on a grey coat from StyleWe. Since the material isn't super thick, it's great to wear during spring for when it gets cold!

Skirt - H&M (old)
Coat - StyleWe
Shoes - ASOS (old)

Outfit 3
I wasn't quite sure how this outfit was going to turn out but it ended up photographing much better than I thought! I love these embroidered jeans I got at Express for $20! It was such a steal because it was additional 50% off their clearance. I never buy regular priced items there because they always have great deals. I paired it with an old sheer top from Forever 21. To make the outfit stand out, I wore a scarf I picked up at a store called "Obsessions" that's located in the PATH in downtown Toronto. Each piece has different patterns but they all ended up flowing together :)

Top - Forever 21 (old)

Outfit 4
I usually purchase stuff on ASOS when it goes on sale so once this sage trench coat finally went on sale, I made sure to get it last summer! Since I couldn't wear it too much last season, I knew I had to start off the spring season with it! I'm obsessed with the colour and love how different it is compared to the typical beige, light blue and light pink trench coats that are always around!

Little to No Effort Outfits for Spring

Monday, March 20, 2017

GOOD MORNING! It is OFFICIALLY spring and I could not be happier about that. Even though the weather has been bipolar in Toronto recently, I'm looking forward to showing you guys my spring/summer wardrobe. You'll notice a huge shift in the colours I wear in the spring/summer. I'm that typical person that dresses according to the season but I also tend to dress more feminine and girly as well! A lot of people rush getting ready in the morning which is totally understandable but I thought I'd show a few outfits that require little to no effort but are still put together.

This is the easiest outfit formula and one that I think can apply to a lot of people. I'm more of a skirt and dress person during the warmer weather but with comfy enough jeans, you'll see them on repeat like this one! A white top is an essential in your wardrobe so if you want to spice it up (instead of wearing a basic tee), try getting something with a cutout like I have.
Instead of a black leather jacket, I opted for this grey one I got from Jean Machine a couple of years ago. If you want to add a statement to your outfit, then add statement shoes or a statement bag for a pop of colour. I'm OBSESSED with these new ones I got from ASOS recently (they're on sale for $41 CAD!). The studs and buckle detailing make the look so edgy. If you're someone who likes to quickly put on their shoes and out the door then these shoes aren't for you because they're like a belt buckle!

Top - Boohoo
Jeans - Urban Planet
Jacket - Jean Machine (old)
Shoes - ASOS

Since the springtime can still have those chilly moments, lightweight knits are key this season. I recently bought a few and I'm beyond thrilled to wear them. They're all light colours and literally perfect for the weather. I wore a faux suede skirt that I received from SheIn. I love this scallop detailing on it which adds so much to the outfit. You all know how much I love the little details so it should come to no surprise that I would get this!

Top - Garage (old)
Skirt - SheIn
Sleevelss Blazer - Winners (old)
Shoes - Converse

For the last outfit, it involves two basics that I think every fashion person has worn: a chambray shirt and white jeans. It's a simple combo but it's an easy go-to that I would wear as well. Usually I'd wear a statement necklace to make it more me but this time I thought I'd wear it with a cream trench coat from Zara and a statement scarf. I actually got this scarf at a home outlet store in my local area so it's not available everywhere!

Shirt - Gap
Pants - Topshop
Jacket - Zara
Shoes - Converse
Scarf - Accents Home Outlet

Current Favourites 2017

Thursday, March 16, 2017
Good morning! I think I mentioned in my last favourites post how I don't often change up products or anything which is why I don't have monthly favourites. Since it is nearing the end of winter, I do have a bunch of different fashion favourites. As for the beauty favourites, I have a few new ones (but nothing that replaces the items in my last favourites post!)

I've been on the hunt for a cabby hat for months but due to having an oddly-shaped head, it's difficult finding stores that size their hats! You'll probably say I'm crazy for saying that my head is oddly-shaped but TRUST ME, you need to see me try on hats to see how a lot of one-size hats don't fit. Anyways, to my luck, I found this one in the clearance section of H&M for $5. I wear it so much and I think it's been quite evident how much I love it on my blog and Instagram.

If you saw my A/W Haul, you would know I got these booties for $25! I've worn them in nearly all my outfit posts since I bought them and I have no regrets about it. There are mixed reviews when it comes to Zara shoes but I own 3 pairs and personally am obsessed with them.

Jeans are probably the one thing I hate buying because they're so expensive! These LEVIs are my favourite thing to wear because of the fit. They actually have 3 buttons as the closure instead of a zipper which isn't something I normally gravitate to but I'm obsessed with these ones. They didn't have a short version but because of the cut, I'm able to cuff them without it suffocating my leg haha

I was fortunate enough to attend MUJI's fall/winter preview in September. They were kind enough tot gift us a few items and this arm stole was one of them! You can wear it like an arm stole or like a regular scarf which makes it so versatile. It was my go-to during the winter!

If you followed all of my winter fashion posts, you'd know that this light brown cashmere turtleneck was definitely one of the all-stars this past season. I do tend to wear a lot of neutrals but it's rarely ever just black and white outfits. I would rather wear something in the brown family (tan/camel, light brown, etc.) versus strictly two shades from opposite sides of the colour spectrum. It's incredibly warm and versatile so no wonder it was a constant staple in my closet! Here's a few of the posts I wore it in: Holiday Lookbook, How Accessories Can Transform Your Look, Winter to Spring Transition: How to Layer

I received this MATT & NAT backpack from Spread during their one year anniversary giveaway on Twitter back in December. Since then, I've been using it nonstop! It's my backpack for school and I also bring it around when I'm going to be out all day in Toronto. I love the adjustable straps (compared to previous faux leather backpacks I owned) and the colour of it! Since I wear a lot of neutrals, it matches perfectly with practically all my outfits.

You've heard me rave about Pai Shau but it's honestly my favourite hair brand! My favourite products from them are the cleanser, conditioner, biphasic fusion and the hairspray. The biphasic treatment is literally a lifesaver. The rain and wind ruined my hair on the day of my graduation photos but thankfully I brought the infusion to add some shine. As for the hairspray, my hair never holds a curl for long so I'm glad to have it! If you haven't seen the reviews yet then click here and here!

Transitioning with Plumetis

Monday, March 13, 2017

Now that we are entering the awkward transition from winter to spring, you never know how to dress. Do you dress more for winter or for spring? What colour palette do you go for, etc. For me, I don't necessarily wear lighter and brighter colours the moment it's a bit warmer. I still stick to my darker colour palette. One of the fabrics I've been loving is plumetis. If you don't know what it is, it's a lightweight fabric with raised dots. I love how it's very versatile despite the detailing. It gives your look more definition compared to a plain blouse.

Plumetis is a perfect transition piece that you can use this season. The lightweight fabric makes it fun to layer with other pieces (or wear it on it's own) I thought I'd show 2 looks of how I style plumetis apparel. These looks are also a winter to spring transition types of outfits as well!

The first look is a plumetis dress from H&M. If you've read my blog before, you would've seen this in my Holiday Lookbook! I styled it with a different belt that has star and stud detailing. I decided to go for an all black look and wore my favourite hat at the moment and the same over the knee boots I've worn countless times on my blog!

I was incredibly happy with how the second outfit turned out. I've always wanted to style this maroon suede dress with a long sleeve black top. I ended up loving wearing the frilled plumetis blouse I got from Zara because the plumetis adds so much detail on the sleeves. Since this is winter to spring transition, wearing long sleeves (even if it's a thinner material) is a must for me!
