$100 Outfit Challenge: Winter Edition

Monday, January 2, 2017
GOOD MORNING AND IT'S THE FIRST OFFICIAL POST OF 2017! I'm so excited to share this post with you because 1) it involves affordable pieces, 2) it looks much more expensive than it actually is and 3) THE SWEATER IS JUST SO DAMN CUTE.

The detailing on this sweater is seriously the cutest thing. The bows on the bell sleeves is simply the heart eye emoji. I live in turtlenecks in the winter (which I'm sure I've mentioned in one of my winter fashion posts) but this one has a contrast trim around it. It's also not on the edges of the sweater only but the top and bottom of the turtleneck portion. It's a subtle detail that I absolutely adore. I think adding that trim on the bottom portion of the turtleneck makes a huge difference.

I stick to neutrals or muted tones when it comes to turtlenecks because it makes it more versatile. It makes it easier to style them multiple ways in the winter since, in all reality, you'll see the same sweaters on my Instagram A LOT throughout both fall and winter.

The past two $ outfit challenges were $50 but this time I decided to change it to $100 and included the shoes! These adorable booties have been a go-to of mine and I purchased it for $25 at Zara. Since they started their winter sale already, they are actually $15 now so HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! They also come in a black pair which I wish I got as well!

As for the pants, I've been dying to get these faux leather biker trousers from Zara. Surprise, surprise that it's Zara. I got them on sale for $50 for Boxing Day thanks to my sister's boyfriend and my cousin who both gifted me Zara gift cards. I always look forward to the Zara sale because a lot of the items are at least  30% off.

I've seen this sweater all over Instagram recently and a lot of people have very elegant or simple looks with black culottes or jeans. I wanted to do something different and more my style so I decided to pair it with the faux leather pants because it's a mix between feminine look with a bit of an edge to it because of the zipper details all over the pants.

A little tip for you if you wear this sweater in the winter is that because it's a knit sweater and it has bell sleeves, you have to wear a coat that has a bit more room in the arms! I wore a more fitted coat and getting the sleeves inside didn't feel comfortable when it was on.

So for the total:
Top ($22) + Pants ($50) + Shoes ($25) = $97

Hope you enjoyed the first post of 2017! I can't wait for you to see all the content I've been preparing. I also decided to be uploading once a week (on Mondays) instead of twice. I want to be able to put more effort into a single post which is why it will be once a week but if I'm able to upload a second post, then it will be on Thursdays like before.

Be sure to leave a comment on how you'd style this sweater!

  5. I'm pretty amazed that you were able to put that outfit together for less than $100 - it certainly looks way more expensive than that! Those heeled ankle boots ... right up my alley!
