Co-ordinate Your Wardrobe 2.0

Monday, December 26, 2016
It is without a doubt that one of the top trends during this year's Met Gala were metallics and silver. I don't know about you but I wasn't a fan of a lot of the designs. I previously did a post on different ways to wear matching sets to show how versatile they are. I wanted to do it anything but to use a matching set I've been dying to wear from Glamorous. I also thought it was perfect NYE outfit inspo!

Outfit 1
This outfit is definitely on the warmer side because of the sweater! I love the little braided detailing on the front. Even though it's small, it makes me more than just a basic sweater. To make it more NYE like, I added a statement necklace from last year's Olivia Palermo x Bauble Bar Holiday collection. It's the perfect accessory for any kind of event :) I actually took all of these photos in -16 degrees Celsius and was surprisingly incredibly warm!

Sweater - Hollister
Skirt - Glamorous (old)
Necklace - Bauble Bar (old)
Shoes - ASOS (old)

Outfit 2
I consider this outfit a very toned down formal outfit. Perfect for going out for drinks or a nice dinner without dressing up too much. I ended up pairing it with a black blazer because 1) it was cold and it's unrealistic to say I wouldn't layer underneath my winter coat and 2) the black contrasts with how light the other pieces in this outfit!

Outfit Details
Top - Glamorous
Blazer - H&M
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - ASOS

Outfit 3
This is perfect for any formal event. If I had this for my high school prom, I would've worn this outfit 100%. Sadly I didn't get to wear this to any event yet but at least I have photos in it! This outfit is FULL of sparkles and metallics. I absolutely am obsessed with it and wish I could wear it every day. Seriously, I was so happy walking through the city in these outfits (especially this one) and wasn't ashamed when people would stare at me haha

Last Minute (Holiday) Outfit Formulas That Will Never Fail You

Monday, December 19, 2016
Happy Monday! Christmas is just days away and I'm sure you're either already prepared for everything (i.e. holiday outfits picked out and presents all wrapped) or you're last minute and haven't even thought about what kind of gifts you want to get people. For this post, I wanted to share with you a few outfits that are guaranteed to look fab with pieces you probably own in your closet :)

1) TURTLENECK + MAXI SKIRT + STATEMENT BAG

I absolutely love dressing up for the holidays. Even though I don't do much, I love being able to wear something a bit fancier than I'd normally wear, even if it's just for a night. If you saw my previous post, I posted 4 different holiday looks that you can wear!

Considering I live in Toronto, winter can be brutal so dressing warm is KEY. You can easily dress up a turtleneck like I did above. I absolutely love the result of this outfit. I wore thermal leggings underneath as well to keep me extra warm as well as having a fitted cashmere sweater

A huge trend fall/winter trend this year has definitely been velvet. I'm absolutely obsessed with velvet accessories versus clothing pieces. The way I incorporate this trend in my holiday look is this quilted crossbody bag from Topshop. The colour is perfect for the festive season but also perfect for most outfits anyways.

Whenever I'm in a rush and don't have time to pre plan my outfits, neutrals are always the way to go. I tend to wear neutrals a lot anyways but I find that mixing them along with some sort of statement piece always works out! For instance, the outfit shown above was a last minute outfit idea that I thought of for my holiday lookbook. Since both the sweater and skirt were muted shades, it was easier to pair for that perfect holiday outfit.

2) TOP + STATEMENT SKIRT + JACKET

I have been obsessed with this H&M Embellished Skirt I got earlier in the year. It's been a go-to piece whenever I go out. I don't go out at night all the time but whenever I do, this is the piece I wear. I try not to re-wear the EXACT same outfit but I would be lying if the outfit wasn't similar. Each time I wore this skirt, I changed the top and jacket and voila, a whole new outfit!

This first look was recently shown in my holiday lookbook. Since there is gold detailing on the skirt, I thought I'd pair it with a gold sequin top that I already owned. A tip I'd suggest when you don't know what to match with a multi-coloured top or bottom is to match the colour that's shown the least. That way the colour stands out more. It makes the overall outfit look put together!

For this second outfit, I wore a satin v-neck top to pair with a jewelled choker from Zara. As you can tell by the photo, it was definitely not winter but this look screams partywear. Again, I wanted the gold detailing to be showcased so I wore black and gold sandals (again from Zara). If you notice, I'm wearing another black jacket but this time, it's a faux leather jacket instead of a blazer. Mixing textures is also key. Since the first outfit had sequins for the top, I didn't want to add the shine from the leather jacket along with an embellished skirt. As much as I love mixing different textures, I don't like to go overboard with it.

3) AN OLD OUTFIT + A SLEEVELESS BLAZER

If you've been following my blog, you'd know there are a couple of pieces that are on a constant re-wear. I wear them and feature them on my blog ALL the time and one of those items being: a white sleeveless blazer from Winners. Owning a sleeveless blazer is something that is part of my capsule collection. You can easily dress it up or down like I am about to show you:

If you're eyeing a monochromatic outfit for the holidays, go for all-white! Add a bright red lip and you're set. Although it'll contrast whether you wear black or white, I am just obsessed with all-white outfits. Here's my all-white lookbook I created in the summer to show you!

This outfit is definitely casual and not something I'd wear for the holidays but I wanted to show it because you can see how a sleeveless blazer can be worn casually or dressy. So whether you want to amp up an every day outfit or your holiday outfit, consider wearing a sleeveless blazer!

That's it for today's post! Hope these outfit formulas will help you when choosing your (holiday) outfit this year and future years to come :)

Holiday Lookbook 2016

Thursday, December 15, 2016
I'M SO HAPPY TO FINALLY PUBLISH SOMETHING. The last couple of weeks have been all focused on school that content creating has not been a thing in my life for what feels like FOREVER. For my first post back, I wanted to have a holiday lookbook. Instead of having just looks for holiday parties because let's be real, I don't even go to holiday parties, I thought it'd be better to have them be a bit more versatile. So really, I think any of these looks can go for any type of holiday party or even winter outing!
Outfit 1
For those of you who do go to holiday parties, this is what I would wear. This H&M dress can easily be dressed up or down which is one of the best kind of pieces you can buy. The statement necklace and matching metallic belt adds some holiday glam to it without going too crazy or over the top!

Outfit Details
Dress - H&M
Necklace - BaubleBar (old)
Belt - Aldo
Shoes - Zara

Outfit 2:
This outfit is perfect for the people who want to wear festive colours without needing to wear the typical bright red or green. There are so many reasons I love this outfit. A couple of them are: 1) It's incredibly warm while being stylish so it's perfect for a Christmas outing and 2) They're pieces that you can continue wearing all-year long and it incorporates current trends (if you're into that). The skirt is great because it's not sheer anywhere so you can wear thermal underneath without anyone noticing (which is what I did haha).

Outfit Details
Sweater - Lord and Taylor
Jacket - SheIn
Skirt - H&M
Shoes - Zara
Bag - Topshop (similar)
Bracelet - Cherry Pick

Outfit 3
Now this is for the people who are going all out! I've been obsessed with this embellished skirt from H&M that I got earlier in the year. Instead of pairing it with a black top (which I've previously for Fashion Magazine's Style Panel), I decided to match it with a gold sequined top I got from Express a few years ago. The gold top pulls everything together for that perfect holiday glam look. Over top, I decided to have a plain collarless black blazer versus a leather jacket because of the different textures on the skirt and top, I thought it'd be better to go simple!

Outfit Details
Top - Express (old)
Skirt - H&M (old)
Blazer - H&M
Shoes - Winners (old)

Outfit 4
THE LAST OUTFIT. I'm not one to wear bright red but I absolutely love this fitted sweater from ASOS. The red is starting to grow on me (probably thanks to my friend, Carolina). Since I wore a silver belt, I thought adding a silver statement necklace would tie the whole look together. This outfit can also be a Valentine's Day one as well :)

Outfit Details
Sweater - ASOS
Skirt - Forever 21 (old)
Necklace - Bauble Bar (old)
Shoes - Winners (old)

Hope you enjoyed my holiday lookbook! Be sure to let me know in the comments which outfit (or hairstyle) was your favourite & what you're doing to celebrate the Christmas season :)
