Water We Talking About?

Tuesday, July 26, 2016
First of all, big thanks to my older sister and her boyfriend for coming up with the blog title. She comes up with the most clever Instagram captions so when I couldn't think of a blog title, she was more than happy to help. Recently, I was contacted by Spread to review a couple of products from Biotherm! Even though I'm not primarily a skincare or beauty blogger, I'm always open to trying new products because I end up finding new favourites. The two products sent to me were: Aquasource Hydrating Jelly and Aquasource Hydration BB Cream.
Aquasource Hydrating Jelly
Background/Initial Thoughts
  • Like a lot of other Biotherm products, the hydrating jelly could be used for all skin types. As a reference, I have normal-dry skin. The first thought I had was that it would be really cold and hydrating once I put it on my face. The first time I used it, I definitely put too much product on the palm of my hands. Since it feels like a balm when applying it onto the skin, it ended up feeling like I put a bunch of Vaseline all over my face. After that lesson was learned, I figured out that a couple of pumps does the trick! When I woke up the next morning, I didn't notice many changes but from one use, it already made my face feeling fresh and soft the next morning.

  • After two weeks:
  • As you can tell by the before photo, I don't have that many skin problems. The biggest issue I face would be the pores and blackheads on my nose. By the end of Week 1, I was able to notice a huge improvement in the size of my pores. Unfortunately, none of my week one photos were able to clearly capture that so I only have what my face currently looks like! In person, there's definitely a huge difference so I'm hoping you guys notice it through these photos
  • Like I mentioned earlier, the texture of the product is a gel that turns into a balm once you apply it to the face. The ingredients that make up this product add a light fragrance (but thankfully it smells like fresh air).

  • OVERALL RATING (out of 5)
  • I would 100% recommend this. After two weeks of consistent use, it has made a huge improvement in my skin and makes it feel hydrated when I wake up the next morning. I'm really excited to see how my skin looks after a month of using this! It honestly makes me wake up with a fresh face that I don't even feel the need to put on any sort of face makeup.

  • Aquasource Hydrating BB Cream: Fair to Medium
    Thoughts
  • The thing I love about BB Cream is that it feels like you're not wearing anything and as a person who's not into full coverage, this kind of product is perfect for me. I didn't really have high expectations or anything but after looking at the before and after photos, I realized how much I really do love the results. The major difference is how much the BB cream evened out my skin tone. I actually have a birth mark in the middle of my forehead and although it's barely noticeable now, I definitely noticed an improvement after using the BB cream. As you can tell by the photos, I just use a Real techniques brush to blend it in.

  • OVERALL RATING (out of 5)
  • 100% would recommend - it leaves my skin looking even and luminous. The past couple of weeks I've been wearing it has made me look more awake at work (which is my favourite haha)

  • Hope you enjoyed my first beauty/skincare post! Again, special thanks to Spread for sending me these products to try out :)

1 Item, 2 Ways: Denim Dress

    Thursday, July 21, 2016
I've been on the hunt for a perfect denim dress or romper ever since the one I wanted from another store was never available in stores or online! I finally found this denim dress at Dynamite and immediately started thinking of ways to style it. As you know, I love Dynamite mainly for their dress pants but recently their collections have been great so I've been purchasing more from them. In this post, it's just like the title says, 2 ways of wearing a denim dress:

    Outfit 1

  • With the weather in Toronto, you could never been too sure if it's so it's still okay for some slight layering! Since it can get pretty humid, I paired it with a lace top that has a slip only in the front which makes it breathable even with the denim dress over it.

  • Dress - Dynamite
  • Top - Zara
  • Shoes - Zara
  • Sunglasses - EyeBuyDirect
  • Outfit 2

  • Neck tie scarves have been huge (or at least in my opinion they're a trend!). I think it'll be the new "skinny scarf trend". I used to wear neck tie scarves once in a while in high school to spice up my uniform. So I thought the same old neck tie scarf I used then would go perfectly with this dress. Unfortunately, I don't remember where it's from because it was a gift!

  • All-White Summer Lookbook

    Thursday, July 14, 2016
Instead of a typical summer lookbook, I wanted to specifically wear all-white outfits. Ever since the all-white outfit I wore in my Bethany Mota Inspired Look back in September, I was obsessed and wanted to make a lookbook with 3 outfits all with white garments.

    Outfit 1

  • Ever since I saw New Look post a photo of this dress on Twitter, I knew I had to get it immediately. It's insanely adorable and has such Self-Portrait vibes. I promise you, you will get TONS of compliments if you buy this dress.
  • Outfit Details
  • Dress - New Look
  • Shoes - Aldo
  • Bracelet - Cherry Pick
  • Sunglasses - EyeBuyDirect
  • Outfit 2

  • I've said before how I love the elegant look you can get from wearing all-white outfits but it doesn't mean you can't make it casual. For this outfit, I wore Converse and white jeans to make it more comfortable.
  • Outfit Details
  • Top - Boohoo
  • Jeans - Topshop
  • Shoes - Converse
  • Outfit 3

  • I love lace, especially white lace but lately I got tired of the same lace pattern so when I saw this one from Zara I needed it. The details on it are stunning and I've been able to style this top countless amount of times!

  • Top - Zara
  • Shorts - American Eagle
  • Shoes - Aldo

  • Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I had fun making it :)

    STYLE MUSE: Alexandra Pereira

    Monday, July 11, 2016

I've been wanting to have a new style muse post up for a while but couldn't figure out who to write one on. It hit me that one of my newly favourite fashion bloggers, Alexandra Pereira (aka Lovely Pepa) was consistently in my "Posts You've Liked" on Instagram so I decided to have a post dedicated to her! Her style is incredible and while she does have high end pieces, she still wears stuff from fast-fashion places like Zara. I could've easily chosen every outfit she's ever posted on Instagram but I narrowed it down to my 5 favourite from her recent posts.

    Outfit 1

  • Absolutely love how put together this airport outfit is. I love that the outfit is comfy with a crew neck and trousers but the bright lip completes it and makes it incredibly chic.
  • Outfit Details
  • Sweater - Forever 21
  • Pants - Forever 21
  • Hat - Urban Outfitters
  • Shoes - DSW
  • Outfit 2

  • This is honestly just a super cute walking through the park summery outfit. Plus boater hats are a huge trend among bloggers but it looks so adorable so I'm not surprised!
  • Outfit Details
  • Romper - Lulu's
  • Hat - Urban Outfitters
  • Backpack - Forever 21
  • Outfit 3

  • I'm seriously loving all-white outfits; even though this one isn't completely white, it's 90% white and it looks amazing. The design on the shorts makes an even bigger statement when paired with all-white.
  • Outfit Details
  • Top - Express
  • Shorts - ASOS
  • Sunglasses - Forever 21
  • Bag - Aldo
  • Outfit 4

  • I'm loving how slip dresses are being worn on top of garments versus underneath. Adding it on top of a t-shirt makes it go from casual to chic and put together instantly!
  • Outfit Details
  • Top - H&M
  • Dress - Forever 21
  • Shoes - H&M
  • Sunglasses - H&M
  • Hat - H&M
  • Bag - H&M
  • Outfit 5

  • This is a simple plaid shirt and shorts outfit but I loved how she accessorized with yellow mirrored sunglasses adding a contrast with the blue and green plaid.
  • Outfit Details
  • Top - Old Navy
  • Shorts - American Eagle
  • Belt - Forever 21
  • Sunglasses - Forever 21
  • Bag - Forever 21
  • Shoes - Converse
  • Hope you enjoyed today's post and be sure to check out Alexandra's blog and Instagram if you haven't heard of her before :)

    Summer Wishlist 2016

    Thursday, July 7, 2016

Today's post is a short and simple summer wishlist! Self-explanatory so I obviously don't need to go into it.

As for trends, it's evident that I'm still into the off-the-shoulder style that's being going on but lately, I've been keen on trying on the bomber jacket trend, But of course, it couldn't be just an ordinary typical army green one. Boohoo is a great place for affordable bomber jackets and with their constant sales? You're definitely going to get one for a great price! Even though I don't own anything from the a few of the stores (yet), I've been lusting over everything at Storets, Pixie Market and Club Monaco. Storets and Pixie Market are both online stores that have a lot of the restyled dress shirt type of clothing. As for Club Monaco, it's a bit too expensive for my student budget but they've had such an incredible summer collection that I wish I owned!

Blogiversary: 10 Things I'm Proud Of

    Monday, July 4, 2016
So much has happened within one year of blogging. I honestly did not except some of the things that happened in such a short amount of time. It's crazy to think how much my blog has grown. I wanted to compile a list of 12 blogging related achievements I'm proud of. No, it isn't to brag about what I've done but a way to show that if you have a passion for something and put in the time and effort, you could achieve so much. You can click on some of the photos to redirect to a post on each thing I'm proud of as well if you want more details on it!

    1) Attended my first fashion show

  • This was absolutely incredible. I've always known that bloggers could get invited to go to fashion week or be sent there through different companies. I never thought that I would get that kind of opportunity so soon in my blogging journey. I always knew it was possible but couldn't believe it actually happened!
  • 2) Invited to a conference as "Media/Blogger"

  • I was invited to Young Women in Business' first conference in Toronto! I wasn't there for the whole day but I was there for the entrepreneurship panel that featured 4 women: Ashlyn Birdy, etc.
  • 3) Have my own coupon code

  • This is probably really lame to other people but I think it's really cool! My first coupon code was for #Shatter2016 but that was temporary. My first permanent one was from Cherry Pick which is a jewelry store that ships internationally as well! I joined their Brand Ambassador Program where I was provided my own coupon to share with you guys.
  • 4) Become part of Fashion Magazine's Style Panel

  • I always thought it would be so cool to be part of a style panel/council for a fashion magazine so I was thrilled when Fashion Canada said they'd love to have me on it among other bloggers were a much higher following. Although numbers don't matter, there are a lot of bigger companies that do care about it and use it to evaluate (which is understandable), so I was very happy when I was accepted.
  • 5) Accepted into College Fashionista's Style Guru Summer Internship Program

  • College Fashionista is a network full of fellow fashionistas (of course) that are all around my age so it's a nice way to get to know people in your area/go to your school who are interested in the same things as you so being part of the Style Guru program was something I was looking forward to!
  • 6) Had pageviews from all over the world

  • Whenever I saw a new country consistently show up in my blog stats, I got so happy! It's a small thing but knowing other people in countries far away enjoying what you post is such an amazing feeling.
  • 7) Attended 2 events hosted by Dave Lackie

  • Being in the Toronto area allows me to attend the events hosted by the one and only, Dave Lackie. Dave is a beauty expert with Cityline that I was fortunate to meet at the #AngelMuse event back in May. He's one of the sweetest people I've met in the beauty industry and he is definitely a reason why I'm getting more into the beauty world!
  • 8) Wrote 76 posts

  • I remember one of the concerns I had when I wanted to start fashion blogging was coming up with different posts. So to think back and see that I've written 76 posts in my first year of blogging is incredible.
  • 9) Had the chance to collaborate with fellow bloggers and companies

  • Collaborating with bloggers is an incredible thing to do; you really get to feed off of each other's creative energy so if you haven't already, I recommend you collaborate with someone you want to! As for companies, I always knew the opportunities were there but didn't think I would manage to work with companies within a year of blogging. I'm so thankful for everyone that has come out of this blog in it's first year and cannot wait for what the next year has in store :)
  • 10) THE BEST FOR LAST: All the blogging friends I've made all over the world

  • I adore all my blogging friends. I've made so many great friendships just from social media (especially Twitter). So much love for Charlie (@charliec_p), Rai (@utterardour), Dal (@littlebeautylovs), Jenn (@ASpoonfulofSugr), Mikayla (@makstyleblog), Catherine (@beautybycatxo), Katherine (@thegreenbows) AND SO MUCH MORE.
