Current Favourites 2016

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

To keep this intro short and sweet, I'm not one of those people who constantly try out new products and always have new favourites every month. I usually stick to products for months at a time so I thought I'd share not only my beauty favourites but fashion and lifestyle ones as well! I spent a lot of time working on the photography for some of the photos so I hope you enjoy that :)

Zara Lace Top

  • Okay, this is definitely a fashion favourite of mine and if you’ve kept up with my outfit posts, you’d know that I’ve featured this lace top from Zara a few times in a row. If only you saw my daily outfits at work...I wear it ALL the time. It’s such a versatile and classy piece that it’s impossible not to love it. Zara doesn’t carry the white one anymore but they do have a dark green and blush pink version of it now!
  • Mendocino Straw Hat

  • Straw hats have been a huge thing this summer and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect boater hat since last summer but also not too wide of a brim. I never liked hats on myself until recently so it takes me a while to find the perfect one to fit my head (I actually have a bigger head than you’d think). I stumbled across this one at Mendocino and instantly knew I had to get it. It was also on sale for $20 (compared to the original price of $58) so I thought it was a steal.
  • EyeBuyDirect Sunglasses

  • This is another obvious favourite of mine. I am SO happy I got the chance to work with EyeBuyDirect because their sunglasses are my summer staple piece. Sunglasses (especially reflective ones) make blog photos 9348029483902x better so that’s why you’ll catch me wearing them in all my photos.
  • Estée Lauder Sheer Tint Moisturizer

  • Back in June, I had the opportunity to attend the #LauderLovesCanada event hosted by Cityline’s beauty expert, Dave Lackie. If you follow along with Dave’s social media, you’d know they have the most amazing gift bags they give to the attendees. For this event, I fell in LOVE with the beauty looks that they had makeup artists for. One of my favourite products that I’ve been using daily since that event is the sheer tint moisturizer. It’s easily a favourite because it adds an instant glow to your face, evens out your skin tone and it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any sort of makeup.
  • Estée Lauder Pure Envy Colour in Naked Ambition

  • During the same event where I got the sheer tint moisturizer, they had two lipsticks from their Pure Envy line that they gave and one of them has become my go-to colour. I’ve been looking for a brownish-nude for a while but after wearing this one, I can’t live without it. It’s a limited edition that was inspired by Canadian maple! I actually left it in my desk at work over the weekend a few weeks ago and pretty much had a heart attack over it. The pigmentation is great and it does stay on your lips even after eating (not like liquid lipsticks but you can still see the colour a lot)
  • Biotherm Aquasource Hydrating Jelly

  • I recently got the chance to review Biotherm’s Aquasource Hydrating Jelly and let me tell you, I LOVE THIS. It’s totally made a difference in my skin. You can read the review I wrote on this and the Biotherm Aquasource BB Cream for more of an explanation! PS: Thanks so much to my blogger friend Mikayla for being totally okay with me taking photos at the pool in her apartment!
  • NYX Micro Brow Pencil

  • I started filling in my eyebrows last year but never realized how essential it is for me now until I ran out of my micro brow pencil and couldn’t go to the NYX store for a couple of weeks. I know NYX is sold at Rexall and Shoppers but it was $1.50 more and I wasn’t about spending that extra bit (even though it's an essential). I love how affordable it is and how it’s basically a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (which I’ve used and loved as well!)
  • Fossil 1954 Perfume

  • I tend to get tired of perfume scents easily and never EVER finish a bottle. In high school, I had one of the those PINK body mists and then was also gifted one but I barely touched it so whenever my friends went to my locker, they were the ones who used it. I never thought I'd get a perfume from Fossil but when they launched it, the sales associate gave me a few samples and I was in love. I didn't want to spend $60 dollars on it though because I had a feeling I wouldn't finish it and/or get tired of it. Luckily, I was gifted it and still, after over a year of owning it, I am still obsessed with it!
  • Note: I borrowed my friend's flowers and we went outside our building at work to take these photos where we were stared at. Anything for the flatlay right?
  • The Success Principles by Jack Canfield

  • This past summer has changed my life in SO many ways; from meeting a bunch of new people that I absolutely love and adore to focusing more on myself, I’ve never felt so happy. One of the people I met over the past summer (who I'm so incredibly thankful for) recommended me this book to read. I’m not much of a reader (only when they’re tutorial books) so I didn’t think I’d see myself getting into it, especially since it’s 400 pages but I have. It’s a great motivational book and even though I already live by a bunch of the success principles that are stated, it’s quite a learning experience. I actually just finished the book last week :)

    Being Unforgettable with Esqido

    Monday, August 22, 2016

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend Esqido's launch event held at Holt Renfrew (Yorkdale location). Holt Renfrew is massive so I was completely lost on where to go and once I found the counter and asked, a lady redirected me downstairs to sign in and I was CONFUSED. Note the tweet below:

After getting settled in, I met the Amy from Esqido's PR who was the SWEETEST and even took most of the photos in this post. I'm not one who wears false lashes really, mainly because I never felt the need to have dramatic eyelashes. So when I went to pick out my lashes, I asked Amy for the most natural looking pair which she then recommended, "Unforgettable". It was definitely the favourite that day because a majority of people ended up getting it. I absolutely LOVE the results and you can clearly see the difference in the photos.

Here's a side by side of having one of the lashes on!

Esqido is made with genuine mink and are made to be "unbelievably natural looking". I definitely think not ALL of them are natural looking since I have never seen anyone with natural high volume lashes but they do have a huge range to choose from depending on how dramatic you want your lashes to look. Like I said earlier, I wanted natural and the pair I got and "Little Black Lash" were my two faves if you want that kind of look. I've only worn false lashes once before this but I did notice a huge difference in comfort; these once were lightweight and much more comfortable to wear.

Honestly, now that I have a pair that looks natural, I'm considering wearing them more often. Unfortunately, mine kept popping off so I ended up taking them off by the end of it. They applied it a total of 3 times and the inner corner kept coming off so I had to get a new pair of lashes. Right now I'm really happy with that one hour I did wear them but if it does pop off quickly when I wear the new pair, I'll be sure to let you know! ESQIDO was very kind and easily made the switch for me once I told them the issue.

Overall, it was such a great opportunity to get to try out Esqido's lashes and huge thanks to Amy for taking photos for me and for inviting me!

A Walk through the Flower Market

    Monday, August 15, 2016

With summer coming to an end soon, I've been focusing more on planning outfits for fall so I thought I'd share a simple OOTD post for today.

This day was a huge day dedicated for blogging with my friend, Mikayla. We went to Sugar Beach, Michaels (for DIY supplies), watched YouTube videos and the Club Monaco Flower Market on Bloor Street.

It was insanely hot this day so I was thrilled that the back of the dress has an opening and because of the thin fabric, it made the weather a bit more bearable. I also pictured wearing my hat with a similar dress style which is why I asked my sister if I could borrow it so I could see my outfit become a reality.

    Outfit Details
  • Dress - Aritzia (old)
  • Hat - Mendocino
  • Shoes - Aldo
  • Weekend Photo Diary: Niagara on the Lake

    Friday, August 12, 2016

Happy Friday! Today's post will be pretty short. I went to Niagara on the Lake over the weekend with my family and I wanted to show all the sorts of things we did.

One of the things you need to try is Maple Leaf Fudge. They have so many different flavours but I tried Skor, Brown Sugar Maple and Cookies and Cream. They were all delicious and I ended up buying 4 pieces (which are fairly large) but totally worth splurging on. It's the perfect ratio of a thin layer of harder fudge and once you cut through it, it's super soft and melts in your mouth easily.

The other highlight of the day was going to the Butterfly Conservatory. It's so much fun walking through and an incredible sight seeing all the butterflies around. I will admit that if they flew too close to me, I would flinch. I couldn't catch a butterfly myself but all the little kids could and one of the girls was kind enough to hand it to me!

Shoutout to the little girl who gave me the butterfly

Cow's Creamery lived up to it's name 😍

Lastly, we also went to Cow's Creamery which is known for being Canada's Best Ice Cream. I'm a huge ice cream fan and I was so ready for this. I had "Gooey Mooey" which was burnt sugar ice cream, English toffee marble, caramel cups and chocolate flakes. It definitely lived up to it's title.

As for my outfit, since there was a lot of walking, I opted for an old jumpsuit and sandals. I also chose something that went with my new hat that I got the day before and I HAD to wear it out.

    Outfit Details
  • Jumpsuit - Forever21 (old)
  • Hat - Mendocino
  • Sandals - Zara
  • 9-5 Style: 2 Ways to Style Patterned Pants

    Monday, August 1, 2016
IT FEELS GOOD TO POST MORE OUTFITS. If you keep up with my social media (aka Twitter and Instagram), you'd know that I started to work full-time back in May. Even though I have a bunch of outfits planned, it's hard to take photos of them when 1) I don't have a personal photographer at my beck and call and 2) only relying on the weekend for photos. Anyways, I was approached by Margaret M Canada to feature a pair of their slimming pants on my blog and I thought it was perfect to wear to work and still be stylish. So instead of showing a lookbook of workwear outfits (which I will eventually), I thought I'd show how to style one pair of pants 2 different ways for the office: 1) Business Formal and Business Casual
    Outfit 1: Business Formal

  • Summer has been insanely hot and humid in Toronto so instead of a full length blazer, I opt for a sleeveless one literally ALL the time at work. I wanted to pair the pants with a dark shade of blue so I wore an old embellished halter top from Express that went perfectly. Since I'm in an office and I commute to work, I always wear flats or loafers but I thought these pair from ASOS was too adorable and even though there's sparkles at the back, it's still youthful for someone in their early 20s. The overall ensemble is still workwear appropriate yet stylish.

  • Outfit Details
  • Sleeveless Blazer - Winners
  • Top - Express
  • Pants - Margaret M
  • Shoes - ASOS

  • Outfit 2: Business Casual

  • This white lace top has been my go-to top - I wear it ALL the time and I always like to change it up every time I do. When I took photos, I didn't put anything kind of camisole underneath since it was insanely hot but if you're wearing it to work, you definitely would want to because of the revealing back. I like how this look doesn't even feel like it's specifically for work but dressy enough that it could be worn in a workplace setting.

  • Outfit Details
  • Top - Zara
  • Pants - Margaret M
  • Shoes - ASOS

  • Hope you enjoyed today's post and big thanks to Margaret M for sending me these pants :)
Disclaimer: The pants featured in this post were gifted to me from Margaret M Canada
