That Time I Went to Toronto Fashion Week

Friday, March 18, 2016

I've been wanting to go to Toronto Fashion Week ever since I became legal to buy tickets but unfortunately, when I had the opportunity to go, I had an important class to attend but finally, after 4 seasons of being legal, I FINALLY ATTENDED. I will admit it's really weird to say Toronto Fashion Week because for the past 6 seasons, it was called World Mastercard Fashion Week (WMCFW) - I do like the shorter hashtag but it though, #TFW is much easier to remember than #WMCFW.

I was lucky enough to collaborate with Spread, Cassandra from For the Love of Blonde and Cody Turner on this! It was so much fun to finally meet another local blogger and be able to collaborate right away.

OUTFIT DETAILS

  • I've been planning my outfit since I found out about being sent to fashion week and last minute, ended up changing my mind to wear this ensemble! I wore a regular white dress shirt from H&M with an old Missguided romper. I loved the print of this romper and was immediately drawn to it because of the blue and pink contrast (and because I got it on sale for $15 but that's besides the point). I paired it with a statement necklace from none other than Bauble Bar and a Topshop bag.
  • EXPERIENCE

Since it's fashion week, Cassandra and I went to Her Majesty's Pleasure to get our nails and makeup done. We've both wanted to go there and because there was a spring promotion going on, we thought it was perfect timing! The interior is amazing and I got to spend a lot of time walking around the place to take photos because I was done much earlier.

It's a very overwhelming experience--there's so much going on and it's fast paced you ALWAYS have to stay alert. I didn't end up vlogging or taking a lot of photos at the lounge because of everything going on. Next time I'll hopefully be able to do take more photos to post! My favourite booth was definitely Maybelline's because of the tiara. It wasn't those cheap Dollarama ones either and I didn't want to return it. The show itself was unique with the colour selection! The main colours were blush/rose quartz and black. There were a lot of textures and patterns, especially fur. Hilary MacMillan reintroduced her brand as cruelty-free this season which I found incredible!

I wrote a blog post for Spread that you can check out here to read more about my thoughts on the show, experience and see other photos that I may have not posted here!

Again, I'd like to thank Spread for sending me to my first fashion show! It's always been a dream of mine to attend a fashion show so I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Also, huge thanks to Cody for all these amazing shots.

    2. Her Majesty's Pleasure is just down the street from my work! I haven't had the pampering treatment, but I had a coffee there and it was quite tasty.

      Ps. that Romper is AMAZING.

      1. It's been a few days now and my nail polish is still on with no chips (and I usually ruin mine right away!) and I only got regular polish! They had pressed juice but I wasn't too into getting that lol

    3. I'm so happy you got to go! Looks like you had a blast! It must be super fast paced with all those shows going on. I worked at a fashion show once and it was the fastest work environment I've ever been in haha!

      Love the outfit x

      1. It was so much fun! Definitely will go to more shows next season (so I can wear more outfits haha) but yes, it's so fast paced. I've always wanted to volunteer but I'm never free the whole week which is required.

        Thanks so much Rai <3

    6. First off - your outfit was super cute! I love that necklace and you're right about the romper colors, super eye catching and very fashionable. Well done!

I'm so glad you had a good time at the show. Sounds like it was a real experience and I'm glad you were able to get the opportunity to make it. Fashion isn't really my forte but anything blush makes me super happy, so it sounds like I'll be on trend for once in my life! <3

    8. Whoa, this looks awesome! Glad you had such a great time.

I love that romper/blouse combination. I dig that look on other women, but am never sure if I can pull it off myself. =P

      1. Thank you! You totally could pull off that look :) I think it's a look a lot of people can look good in. So many people are used to just throwing on a romper because it's convenient but there's so many other cute outfits you can put together!
